About Privacy Paralegal Job Opportunity

Medtronic is hiring and expanding its Minnesota office. They are looking for a professional to fill the position of Privacy Paralegal Job.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Triage issues presented to America’s privacy team, meet with privacy and business colleagues, and provide direction and escalation as needed.
  • Assist in drafting and negotiating privacy provisions in commercial contracts, including Business Associate Agreements, and coordinate with legal, contracting, and business teams throughout contracting process.
  • Review and update privacy contract provisions and agreements found in Medtronic templates, as well as internal guidance resources used by legal and business colleagues in contract negotiations.
  • Complete legal research into US privacy issues or emerging federal and state privacy laws, at the direction of US privacy attorneys, as related to current Medtronic operations and further privacy program maturation.
  • Review, update, and maintain US privacy program materials, including US/HIPAA employee trainings, US-focused internal privacy policies, public-facing privacy notices, and informal resources, like SOPs or manuals.
  • Manage and participate in project work with Americas privacy colleagues to complete priority program initiatives and create solutions-oriented approaches for internal client teams.
  • Collaborate with other members of the global Data & Privacy COE to develop and implement work products and enhance processes across global privacy initiatives.
  • Contribute to routine review of existing privacy program status to identify areas for improvement and develop strategy for individual and COE-wide work.
  • Participate in other cross-functional projects that overlap with priorities in IT, Security, HR, Government Affairs, and other corporate functions, as assigned or as needed.

Eligibility for Privacy Paralegal Job

  • Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of paralegal or legal experience, including privacy experience, in a law firm, corporate legal or compliance setting; or, an advanced degree and 5+ years experience 
  • Advance knowledge of US privacy and security laws and regulations, including HIPAA/HITECH, CCPA, state breach notification laws, FTC privacy enforcement actions, etc.;
  • Prior privacy experience in healthcare, medical device, or technology industries.
  • Experience providing legal support and real-world solutions for data protection, privacy, security, or compliance function in a large, regulated, and matrixed organization;
  • Demonstrated success in drafting and maintaining various legal materials, including contract templates, privacy policies, training and awareness resources, internal presentations, and research summaries.
