About the Opportunity

Orrick is currently seeking an early career professional, available immediately, to join their Public Policy team for a 12-week paid internship.

Roles and Responsibilities of the Intern

  • You will serve as one of the primary editors and contributors for the Firm blog and email newsletters shared with our global clients.
  • You will monitor, research, and analyze federal and state legislative, regulatory, enforcement, political and judicial developments impacting financial services institutions, synthesizing the information into compelling summaries for weekly deliverables.
  • You will assist with the preparation, editing, and delivery of client alerts.
  • You will cover government agency events and House and Senate hearings, preparing summaries for our attorneys.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Excellent time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail 
  • Must be comfortable reporting to numerous practice group leaders, and juggling often complex demands
  • Ability to provide consistent, high quality, client-ready output, with minimal supervision
  • Highly proficient in proofreading and detail oriented 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Adobe required 
  • Working knowledge of legal resources (WestLaw, LexisNexis, PACER, SEC/EDGAR) helpful 
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • At least 3 years of work or educational experience with research- and writing-based responsibilities
  • Familiarity with the consumer financial services sector and prior experience in the legal industry preferred
