About the Opportunity

Burr & Forman LLP has an immediate opening in their Hilton head office for a full-time Legal Practice Assistant preferably with law firm or corporate legal department experience. 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Prepare, edit, and proof emails, memos, correspondence and other similar documents and reports
  • Perform administrative duties requiring knowledge of legal terminology and legal processes
  • Assist attorneys and paralegals with file maintenance, new matter intake, monitoring matter progress and related duties
  • Update and maintain databases
  • Prepare Excel reports and PowerPoint presentations for various engagements
  • Plan and prepare travel arrangements and process expense reimbursements
  • Enter billable time and edit time and pre-bills as needed
  • Open and maintain client files, cases and organizational documents
  • Complete check requests as needed
  • Respond to inquiries for information
  • Other responsibilities as needed 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Law firm or corporate legal department experience preferred
  • Strong technology skills and experience with Microsoft Office/Outlook/PowerPoint and Excel and/or willingness to learn immigration software
  • Ability to type 50 wpm
  • Highly organized, detail-orientated, proactive, and a team player who takes ownership
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and work effectively under deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with minimal supervision
