Davis & Young, Ohio is expanding its legal team and inviting applications for a Legal Officer job with at least five years of experience in a senior management position to oversee a variety of operational and administrative tasks in order to facilitate the efficient operation of the law firm.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the office; prioritizes the use of support staff and facilities. This includes but may not be limited to: daily review and reconciliation of bank accounts, biweekly payroll, and weekly financial summaries.
  • Provides fiduciary oversight of 401(k) plan and ensures the processing of all deferrals with every payroll.
  • Manages the daily operations of information systems.
  • Manages equipment, office services, and facilities.
  • Maintains a professional and positive work environment by facilitating effective communication and information sharing among management, professional, and support staff.
  • Participates in the strategic planning process with management to identify and accomplish short- and long-term organizational goals.
  • Prepares the firm’s budget.
  • Performs or facilitates and delegates accounting functions as needed. These may include billing, preparation of financial statements, management of reports, and collections.
  • Consults with an outside accountant for audits, preparation of tax returns, loan obtainment, and the production of other reports as required by financial institutions and outside agencies.
  • Assists with human resource management as needed.
  • Manages and maintains all insurance policies for the firm, ascertaining timely annual renewals.

Eligibility for Legal Officer job

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field required.
  • At least five years of experience in a senior management position.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Detail-oriented and professional.
  • Advanced understanding of office management practices including knowledge of accounting procedures and information systems.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks, delegating when appropriate.
  • Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or other similar software programs.
  • Ability to maintain confidential records.
