About the Opportunity

The Privacy and IP Legal Intern will support these two functions within Zeta’s in-house legal team. This will be a substantive learning opportunity for a law student, as well as strong exposure and experience applying legal principles in practice. The role will include a mix of research and legal writing, as well as review and development of public-facing compliance documents. IP work will primarily focus on patent-related issues. Privacy work will include website compliance and analysis of emerging laws and regulation. Real-world, hands on experience in the marketing technology industry (80% of work in internship role and 20% of internship with professional development/ webinars/ activities)

Roles and Responsibilities

Privacy Intern

  • Analyze recently enacted state privacy laws and their implementing regulations
  • Review and update website privacy policies based on recent laws, holdings, and enforcement settlements
  • Participate with Zeta’s privacy attorneys in the development of Zeta’s POV on various aspects of emerging laws and precedent
  • Contribute to the monthly Zeta privacy newsletter

IP Intern

  • perform legal research on emerging IP issues related to AI
  • review and revise drafted patent applications
  • validate patent record data and flag possible errors
  • manage invention intake, review, and decision communication/feedback to inventors

Qualifications

  • Ability to research legal and business issues and learn new concepts quickly
  • A previous understanding of digital marketing, consumer data, AI, internet advertising, and technology adoption trends
  • Ability to work independently and stay on deadline while working with remote managers
  • Interest in consumer privacy regulation and legal practice
  • Completion of some IP related law school course work
  • Patent Bar registration or otherwise demonstrate a strong interest in IP

Stipend

$20/hour for up to 40 hours per week
