GMA is organizing a webinar on UNCLOS or SOS, Can the law save our seas? on 28th July at 10 AM CET. The webinar is for about 60 minutes with two presentations on the UNCLOS – debating Freedom of the Seas (for commercial exploitation) vs the Common Heritage of mankind.
About the Speakers
Raghbendra Jha
- Raghbendra Jha Ph.D. (Columbia), FWIF, is an Emeritus Professor of Economics at the Australian National University (ANU). Between 2001 and 2021 he was Professor and Executive Director of Australia South Asia Research Centre at the ANU.
Edwin Egede
- Edwin Egede is a Professor of International Law and International Relations at Cardiff University’s School of Law and Politics. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Nelson Mandela University’s Department of Public Law in South Africa.
Admiral RK Dhowan
- Admiral RK Dhowan (Retd), formerly the 22nd Chief of Naval Staff of the Indian Navy, had a distinguished career of 42 years. Since he served as 5th Chairman of the National Maritime Foundation, India’s premier maritime think tank.
Professor Peter Droege
- Professor Peter Droege is a leading international urban sustainability expert on advanced urban policy, management, transport policy and strategy, urban design, city and regional planning, and renewable infrastructure development.
