About the Speakers
Sarah Charlton: Consultant at DG Legal
- Sarah has a BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting and is a Fellow member of the Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants. Her career spans over 35 years working within the legal sector, fulfilling roles from COFA through to CEO.
During her career, she has worked with a number of legal regulators, professional bodies, and government organizations. Sarah has been a member of the Institute of Legal Finance and Management throughout her career, qualifying as a Fellow member in 2005. Sarah also served as chairperson between 2010-2012 and continues to serve as an Executive Council Member.
Pat Estabrook: Consultant at DG Legal
- Pat has a hugely impressive amount of experience in compliance having worked for the Legal Complaints Service, the Solicitors Regulation Authority, and as Head of Compliance of a large private law firm. Pat’s expertise includes SRA compliance, file reviews, and complaints handling.
In particular, Pat has developed a wealth of knowledge in Anti-Money Laundering (AML). She provides training and general AML advice to firms and also undertakes AML audits to ensure that the firm’s policies and procedures comply with the AML legislation.
Paul Wightman: Consultant at DG Legal
- A qualified barrister, Paul graduated in Law from Birmingham University and was called to the Bar in 1994. He subsequently spent almost 20 years working for the Law Society of England and Wales, initially within the Office for the Supervision of Solicitors, then the Legal Complaints Service (LCS), and ultimately the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).
Paul is adept at undertaking audits and providing succinct reports on areas for improvement and can assist firms with advice on all aspects of SRA compliance and Anti-Money Laundering procedures as well as being a subject matter expert in relation to resolving service complaints.
