About the Position
S&P Global is looking to hire a Procurement Attorney for their Burnsville, North Carolina Office with at least 5+ years of experience.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist in providing advice and counsel involving legal, privacy and regulatory issues of varying levels of complexity
- Being part of our dynamic global team requires flexibility in working hours
- Negotiates and drafts various types of vendor agreements, including software licensing, technology, outsourcing, professional services, marketing, recruitment, and travel-related vendor agreements
- Primary legal contact for the S&P Global’ s U.S. Procurement function
- Work closely with management on vendor governance, including compliance with applicable policies and laws
- Assist Procurement organization on the development of vendor governance policies and risk mitigation strategies in dealing with vendors
- Participate in vendor governance and other applicable steering committees
- Collaborate closely with other functional groups supporting the procurement function, including Privacy, Information Security, Regulatory, Compliance and Insurance as necessary
- Provide SME expertise to assist divisional lawyers who negotiate vendor agreements
- Provide legal assistance on contract disputes and other contractual matters arising from vendor agreements
- Participate in the maintenance and updating of S&P Global’ s standard form template agreements, such as consulting agreements, professional services agreements, NDAs, and SOWs
Minimum Requirements
- Be a business-minded, and a self-motivated attorney with at least 5 years’ experience, and preferably prior in-house experience
- 5+ years of post-qualification experience in the practice of law gained at law firm and/or in-house
- D or LLM from an accredited law school and maintains active bar membership in at least one US state
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university
- Knowledge in reviewing, developing, negotiating, and management of vendor contracts
- Skill in foreseeing legal implications of contract terms and procurement and contract actions and providing legal advice accordingly
Preferred Skills
- Confidence in handling and managing high volume workflow, and multiple agreements and matters at the same time to tight deadlines
- Knowledge of fundamentals of contract law and ability to work on and negotiate a wide range of vendor agreements, in particular engagements involving SaaS, Professional Services, Software Licensing audit reviews, Hardware Purchases and Maintenance agreements, as well as Value Added Reseller and IT outsourcing documentation.
- Familiarity with the Ariba contracting process management tool, or similar contract management platforms
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
