Crook County is inviting applications from enthusiastic and motivated law students for a Law Clerk Internship at its Prineville, Oregon, United States office.

About the Internship

Crook County is accepting applications for Law Clerks; this is an intern position working in the Crook County District Attorney’s Office. Under the direction of the Deputy District Attorneys, the Law Clerk will assist with all aspects of prosecution, with a focus on misdemeanor prosecution.

The Law Clerk will be mentored by the Deputy District Attorneys and is expected to appear in court, learn the prosecution philosophy of the office, and have hands-on experience with motions, trials, and investigations.

Qualifications

  • Must have completed two years of law school and be admitted to practice law by the Oregon Supreme Court pursuant to the Student Appearance Rule. This certification must be obtained prior to being assigned criminal cases for court appearance purposes.
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver’s license within 30 days of the hire date. The employment offer will be contingent on the presentation of an acceptable and verifiable driver’s license, pre-employment screening for criminal history, driving history, and controlled substances. Positive test results for marijuana use may result in a rescission of a contingent offer of employment. This screening must be completed with satisfactory findings.

Compensation

$25 per hour. Outside of state or federally-mandated benefits, there are no County benefits available to you with this position.
