IGM Biosciences is a clinical-stage biotechnology company committed to developing and delivering a new class of medicines to treat patients with cancer, infectious diseases, and autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. The Company also has an exclusive worldwide collaboration agreement with Sanofi to create, develop, manufacture, and commercialize IgM antibody agonists against oncology and immunology, and inflammation targets.
About the Opportunity
The Company is seeking a highly motivated and curious college student with an interest in learning about opportunities in life sciences that are away from the bench, including corporate legal functions related to biotechnology and the process to legally protect intellectual property. The intern will learn about a broad range of scientific and legal activities happening at IGM, learn about many aspects of what it takes to protect new inventions throughout the world, and gain greater insight into what it takes to move from an idea to a product. Interns will have the opportunity to kick-start their careers by working closely with experienced industry professionals and gain valuable, hands-on, full-time work experience.
Duration of the Internship
Start Date: Summer 2023
Length of Assignment: 10 – 12 weeks (depending on school schedule)
Roles and Responsibilities of the Intern
- Contribute to the identification of new patent opportunities
- Contribute to strategy and assist in preparing responses to patent office communications from various countries
- Contribute to contract drafting and review
- Analyze SEC filings
- Support day-to-day department operations as needed
Eligibility Criteria
- Interest in the biomedical field and law
- Pursuing a degree in biological sciences
- Team player ready to pitch in as needed
- Desire to problem-solve, work with others and draft technical documents
- Able to commute to Mountain View, CA
- Current college student with availability for 8-12 weeks June-August 2023
- This will be a short-term employment contract for the summer of 2023 with the possibility for additional time during school breaks
Stipend
$35 – $45 / hour
