About the Opportunity

As a Data Privacy Attorney, you will be responsible for supporting the GDPO in advising on data sharing and data processing agreements, implementing initiatives necessary for demonstrating compliance with the Firm’s Binding Corporate Rules and governance obligations, monitoring developments in privacy laws in relevant jurisdictions to inform the Firm’s data privacy strategy, and engaging with stakeholders to raise awareness of data privacy requirements and best practice across the Firm.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the Firm’s Procurement function and Security Review Team to review vendor contracts and other commercial relationships involving the transfer of personal data; drafting, reviewing, and negotiating relevant contracts and ensuring requirements relating to international transfers of personal data are met
  • Working with members of the GDPO and other key internal stakeholders to review proposed projects which involve the collection or utilization of personal data, advising on privacy risks and compliance with local data privacy laws; where necessary, carrying out privacy impact assessments
  • Working with Information Governance, Data Privacy Committee and other privacy attorneys in the Firm to respond to requests from individuals to exercise their rights under applicable data privacy laws in the UK, EU, USA and other relevant jurisdictions, including requests to access or delete their personal data
  • Working with members of the GDPO to implement measures necessary to demonstrate compliance with applicable data privacy laws, including managing and updating records of processing activities, assisting with data mapping and vendor management reviews
  • Reviewing and updating transparency notices, privacy policies and procedures globally

Eligibility Criteria

  • A Law degree from an accredited law school
  • A minimum of two (2) years of PQE experience
  • Experience of contract drafting and negotiation
  • Experience in advising on EU and US data privacy laws, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA
  • Experience working on and maintaining data privacy compliance programs
  • Demonstrate well-developed and professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm
  • Possess strong project management and organizational skills including the ability to manage time well, prioritize effectively, anticipate obstacles and handle multiple deadlines
  • Are a self-starter able to use their own initiative in driving improvements to the Firm’s compliance posture

Successful candidates will not only be provided with an outstanding career opportunity and welcoming environment, but will also receive a generous and competitive total compensation package. The salary range for this role is $150,000 – $178,000 and the actual compensation will be dependent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, and location. Discretionary bonuses may be awarded in recognition of individual and firm performance — and profit-sharing partnership contributions to 401(k) accounts may be given based on firm performance.
